About this book

About this book

The second edition of the handbook that sets out Quantum Homeodynamics (QHD), a clinical and educational framework proposed by its author in 2024, together with the research programme that would be needed to test it. It presents QHD's clinical claims as hypotheses, states plainly where the framework goes beyond the evidence, and is an educational text, never a substitute for medical care.

The Quantum Homeodynamics Handbook is written for students, clinicians, researchers and sceptics. It is organised in eight books. Book One sets out the paradigm and the science behind its vocabulary, with new chapters on quantum biology and bioelectric research that separate what is established from what is debated or speculative, and a chapter on where QHD extrapolates beyond that evidence. Book Two is the Organon of 135 numbered aphorisms. Book Three describes the Five-Step Method (scan, analyse, personalise, deliver and verify) and its documentation fields. Book Four states the evidential status of each modality and device. Book Five teaches case-taking through thirteen fictional composites, and Book Six orients students to common problems with the emphasis on what medicine knows and when to refer. Books Seven and Eight cover ethics, formation, citeable definitions, an evidence taxonomy, a research agenda, falsification criteria and reporting standards. This edition is roughly two fifths shorter than Volume I, repeats no paragraph, and adds a checked References section. QHD is presented as complementary to conventional medicine.

Most clinicians know the consultation.

Chapter 1: What Quantum Homeodynamics Proposes

Most clinicians know the consultation. A person arrives with a folder of results, all within the reference ranges, and a life that has narrowed over two or three years: tired by early afternoon, sleeping without being restored, wary of any exertion that might cost the next two days. The investigations were necessary, and some of them were reassuring. They did not explain the illness, and they did not tell anyone what to do next.

Quantum Homeodynamics began as an attempt to give such encounters a disciplined structure. It proposes that clinicians attend to how a person's regulatory systems are coordinated over time, and not only to whether individual measurements are normal, and it offers a method for doing so. Its citeable definition (CD-1, given in full with the other twelve in Chapter 54) describes a clinical and educational framework, proposed in 2024, for observing and supporting adaptive coordination in the living human system through a Five-Step Method and a set of resonance-oriented practices, always as a complement to licensed medical care. Two clauses of that definition carry most of the weight. QHD borrows questions and vocabulary from quantum biology and systems physiology without claiming that its clinical methods work through quantum mechanisms. And none of its clinical claims has yet been tested in controlled research.

The name has three parts, and each needs explaining because each can mislead.

Quantum refers to the research field described in Chapter 3, in which physicists, chemists and biologists study cases where quantum effects such as tunnelling, coherence and correlated electron spins do real work inside living things. That field shaped the questions QHD asks: how organisms maintain order far from equilibrium, and how coordination at one scale supports function at another. It does not supply evidence for QHD's clinical methods. The word is the most contestable part of the name, and I have kept it with some misgiving. If it comes to mislead more than it clarifies, the constructs should be renamed and the method kept.

Homeo- signals affinity with the organism's capacity to regulate and repair itself. It echoes homeostasis, Cannon's (1932) term for the stability of the internal environment, and it acknowledges a debt to older healing traditions that respected that capacity, Hahnemann's among them. It does not make QHD a form of homeopathy; Chapter 8 sets out the difference.
