About this book
About this book
A chapter-by-chapter orientation map to Daniel Kahneman's Thinking, Fast and Slow, with a short note on what each of its chapters sets up in the reader's head. It ends with a one-page field guide for decisions under bias and is meant to be read alongside the book, which it does not replace.
This companion guide follows the five parts of Thinking, Fast and Slow (Two Systems; Heuristics and Biases; Overconfidence; Choices; Two Selves). For each chapter it gives the title and a one-line summary of the idea the chapter introduces, and each part closes with a short takeaway. The second half is a one-page field guide for decisions under a biased brain, in seven steps: name the mode you are in, look for what is missing from the picture, check the probabilities, check how the choice is framed, audit your confidence, run a two-selves check for personal and customer decisions, and use a short System 2 routine of two to five minutes. It is a study and orientation aid, and every summary points back to the original chapters. Two notes flag findings the book presents as established, ego depletion and behavioral priming, that have since failed large replications.
